Update from the ICOE Board

Early morning Saturday, January 14, tragedy struck and our cherished ICOE center was burned down, the ICOE elders council has been expeditiously working and coordinating efforts to rebuild our center. The EC mobilized resources within the community and beyond to help in this effort. The EC formed several new teams in addition to preexisting ones to which the EC appointed leaders. The teams are focusing on different aspects of the center rebuilding process, including logistics, communications, security, fundraising, and reconstruction. ICOE is overseeing these efforts in concert to ensure that the transition through these difficult times is as seamless as possible to the community. The EC has been concurrently working with the city of Bellevue, the Bellevue police, and the Bellevue fire department, and other federal agencies to lay ground work for the reconstruction effort. After holding press conferences with the authorities, the EC will be holding the first of a series of town meetings this Thursday night to inform the community of the progress and address their questions regarding this tragedy and the rebuilding process. The time and location will be posted in the website. The EC members on behalf of our community again thank all the people from our community and outside, other Islamic centers, CAIR, the Bellevue City Mayor Mr. Stokes and city staff, the Bellevue police department chief Mr. Mylett and his staff, and the Bellevue fire department Chief Mr. Risen and his staff, and people from all the religious and non-religious institutions, who are assisting us to overcome this tragedy.
